Adult Programs

Orchestral Ensembles — fall Semester

Don't let your instrument sit idle in its case! MIC's adult orchestral programs include a community symphony, a non-performing group of string players with some prior experience, and early music ensembles. Also enjoy meeting and working with other musicians.

Orchestral Ensembles Classes
  • Community Symphony

    Enjoy and explore classic orchestral literature - such as Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite and the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto - in this adult orchestra for musicians with prior orchestral experience. The orchestra performs twice a year in Nichols Concert Hall.

    $80.00 per 15 week semester | 120 minute class

  • New Horizons Freshman Band (for senior adults)

    The Freshman Band is designed for those without prior musical experience.

    $240.00 per 15 week semester | 90 minute class

  • New Horizons Varsity Band (for senior adults; tuition includes sectionals)

    The New Horizons Band program, for adults ages 50 or older, is based on a program founded at the Eastman School of Music. The Varsity Band is for more experienced music makers. Tuition includes small group lessons, band rehearsal, and music.

    $240.00 per 15 week semester | 90 minute class

  • Quartet Strings (prior musical experience)

    This string ensemble emphasizes the string quartet literature of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and others. Open to string players with prior musical experience.

    $150.00 per 15 week semester | 120 minute class
