Each year MIC provides nearly $500,000 in scholarships and financial aid to students at all levels from across Chicago and surrounding metropolitan area. As MIC President Mark George explains, “financial aid is the key to making the exceptional teaching and resources of the Music Institute accessible to all families, regardless of economic status. This support also plays an integral role in making our commitment to serving a diverse community of learners a reality.”

Teacher of Note Award Presentation

The afternoon festivities also include announcement of the Second Annual Teachers of Note Award recipients.  These awards honor and express appreciation for the people who live the Music Institute’s mission every day: our internationally acclaimed, award-winning faculty. In 2023, the Music Institute of Chicago honored piano faculty Christina Tio and cello faculty Bianca d'Avila do Prado.

The award recipients represent the excellence of the entire Music Institute faculty and demonstrate dedication, enthusiasm, and inspiration in their teaching. This year faculty and students voted to uplift violin/viola faculty Davis King and cello faculty Avi Friedlander as our 2024 Teachers of Note.
