Basic Teaching Philosophy or Special Music Interests/Specialties

I've been able to benefit from many wonderful teachers throughout my life. Being able to take many of the lessons I've picked up over the years and share them with my students as they develop as young humans and musicians has been a joy. The practice of music, setting goals and working in a structured way to achieve them, is something that applies to many facets of my life, and I've learned how to appreciate not just the things that I can improve, but the things I've accomplished along the way. I hope to be able to build that awareness in every student who I work with.

Hobbies/interests outside of music:
I love exploring Chicago's coffee shops, rock climbing at my local gym, or spending time with friends outside in the city when the weather allows. I'm a big fan of the Art Institute of Chicago, and you can usually find me there at least once or twice a month.

What you love about Chicago:
I love how this city is a true melting pot. I live in the Logan Square neighborhood and get to engage in some of the rich cultures that are present in the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods, trying new food and attending local festivals. I also think no population in the world appreciates summer quite like Chicagoans.

What music means to you:
Music has always been a companion to me. It's a means to connect to others, a means to communicate, and to immerse oneself into those emotions that are harder to put words to. I think, in pursuing music, you're asked to think deeply about what it means to be you! That self-discovery has been key as I've grown.
