CHAMBER MUSIC INSTITUTE

The CSI Chamber Music Institute is designed for Suzuki violinists (Book 4 and up), Suzuki cellists (Book 4 and up), Suzuki violists (ages 11+ or Book 4 and up), and Suzuki pianists (Book 7 and up) and includes chamber music, masterclass-style lessons, and enrichment classes such as cello choir and violin/viola choir. 

ADVANCED PROGRAM

Suzuki Cello and Suzuki violin students in Book 7 and beyond may choose to audition to participate in the more rigorous Advanced Program, which includes individual lessons, daily technique classes, and an opportunity to perform. A limited number of Suzuki pianists in Book 7 (or equivalent) and beyond will be accepted on a space-available basis. The program for pianists will include chamber music, enrichment classes, and a guest artist masterclass. Please submit two contrasting pieces that best represent your playing. Recordings should be approved by your home teacher. 

All performances, including weekday lunchtime recitals, guest artists recitals, and final performances, will be held in Nichols Concert Hall at MIC's Evanston Campus, 1490 Chicago Avenue.  


 

RECORDing Submission deadline: May 1, 2025

Please submit two contrasting pieces that best represent your playing. Recordings should be approved by your home teacher. You may submit the registration form without recordings attached. Recordings may be submitted separately and are due on May 1, 2025.

Faculty

All Suzuki music lessons and classes will be taught by members of the renowned CSI faculty, including Amy Barston (cello) and the Bayberry String Quartet (Nurit Pacht, Steffani Kitayama, Gabe Bolkosky, Laura Usiskin).

 

Prerequisite(s)

Violinists: Book 4 and up
Violists: ages 11+ or Book 4 and up
Cellists: Book 4 and up
Pianists: Book 7 and up

Student participants must be able to practice independently.

Daily Schedule

Classes take place from the morning of Monday, June 30 through the evening of Friday, July 4.
Special events will be held in the evening.
