MIC Fall Fundraiser Concert
Nichols Concert Hall
1490 Chicago Avenue
Evanston, IL 60201
United States
Come together and join the MIC community at beautiful and historic Nichols Concert Hall on Sunday, November 3 at 3 pm. The afternoon includes
special performances by faculty and students, a culminating community sing, opportunities for conversation, sweet treats, and more, all in support of scholarship and financial aid at the Music Institute of Chicago.
Each year MIC provides nearly $500,000 in scholarships and financial aid to students at all levels from across Chicago and surrounding metropolitan area. “Financial aid is the key to making the exceptional teaching and resources of the Music Institute accessible to all families, regardless of economic status,” said President and CEO Mark George. “This support also plays an integral role in making our commitment to serving a diverse community of learners a reality.”
This year, the concert is free. Contributions at all levels are welcome with a generous donor matching contributions up to $50,000.
This year's concert will be emceed by Dr. Mark George, MIC president and CEO. The program will feature performances by members of the Music Institute’s world-class faculty, as well as selected students and ensembles from its Community Music School and Academy for gifted pre-college musicians.
We have quite an extraordinary lineup of talented faculty and students performing at this year's concert, including: Third Coast Suzuki Strings and Community Music School Cellists; the Academy's Hemingway Quartet; faculty members Almita Vamos (violin), Elaine Felder (piano), Sang Mee Lee (violin), Erica Anderson (oboe), and Louise Chan (piano); special guest Paula Kosower (cello); and Community Music School students Riley Branch (piano), Audra Wilson (piano), Santino Pardo Robles (piano), and Julia Perekhozhuk (violin).

Make a gift in honor of your teacher or performer
The Music Institute also will announce the recipients of the second annual "Teachers of Note Awards," created to honor and express appreciation for the people who live the Music Institute’s mission every day: the internationally acclaimed, award-winning faculty. The award recipients represent the excellence of the entire Music Institute faculty and demonstrate dedication, enthusiasm, and inspiration in their teaching.
A photo booth, meet and greet, and sweet treats for every guest follow the performance in the lobby. For those unable to attend in person, the concert will be available via livestream.
While there is no ticket fee, contributions of all sizes are welcome. “We especially encourage gifts in honor of our faculty and students,” George noted. “Charitable contributions—whether specific to an event, in honor of an individual, or for general operating support—all make it possible for the Music Institute to live its mission.”
