MIC families, faculty, and friends are invited to an Academy Master Class with Midori, esteemed violinist, artist, humanitarian, Midori is the Dorothy Richard Starling Chair in Violin Studies; Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia; and the Artistic Director of the Ravinia Steans Music Institute's Program for Piano & Strings.
Three Academy students will each perform for 30 minutes.

5:30 pm Emily Chen (age 15, student of Almita Vamos and Injoo Choi)
MIDORI
Midori was born in Osaka in 1971 and began her violin studies with her mother, Setsu Goto, at an early age. In 1982, conductor Zubin Mehta invited the then 11-year-old Midori to perform with the New York Philharmonic in the orchestra’s annual New Year’s Eve concert, where the foundation was laid for her following career.
