Meet Cheryl Stone, Our Adult Student Spotlight!
Background: From childhood piano lessons to a career detour through ballet, Cheryl's musical path took unexpected turns. Parenthood sparked a musical revelation - one couldn't raise a child without a piano. The instrument patiently waited for Cheryl to rediscover its melodies.
Discovery of MIC: Living near Evanston, Cheryl thought the Music Institute of Chicago was for child prodigies. A chance encounter at an adult piano workshop in Vermont changed everything. Encouraged by an enthusiastic MIC student, Cheryl dove into the world of adult learning, attending MIC's Adult Piano Camp and embracing weekly lessons.
Motivation: Cheryl's drive to improve and share her music keeps her motivated. MIC's offerings and exceptional teachers inspire her continuous learning journey. On challenging days, she turns to online performances for a musical boost.
Impact: Learning music opened doors to local and international collaborations. Through Zoom piano groups, Cheryl connected with diverse composers and genres, expanding her musical horizons.
