Violinist Joshua Brown, the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Fellow Laureate and Academy student of Almita and Roland Vamos, received more awards than any other participants in the 2015 IX International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians held in Novosibirsk, Russia.  From a pool of over 127 participants from 22 countries, competing  in violin, cello and piano, Joshua received the Audience Award, Honorable Mention, the Academy of Arts Golden Medal, and the Siberian Academy of Arts Talent Award.

He was also featured in the First Prize Winners Gala Concert at Arnold Katz State Concert Hall, performing Tchaikovsky's Valse-Scherzo.  During the Awards segment of the Gala Concert, Joshua was presented with a formal framed invitation to perform with the Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra during its 2016-2017 season.  The Minister of Culture also invited him to be featured in a solo recital in Novosibirsk, and the Association of Tchaikovsky Competition Stars expressed interest in having him perform as part of their series.
