MIC receives Musical Partnership Award

Cedille Records, Chicago's Grammy-winning nonprofit recording company, presented its 2nd Musical Partnership Award to the Music Institute of Chicago at its annual Soiree on September 11, 2016. The award is presented annually, "To an organization that has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the classical music community in Chicago." Receiving the Martin D. Ginsburg Award, which is given to an individual who, "Exemplies the philanthropic spirit of Martin Ginsburg," was Joan W. Harris.  The award was presented by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

 

The event's musical program was performed by the Cavatina Duo, with Music Institute faculty member and cellist David Cunliffe, and violinist and Music Institute alumnae, Jennifer Koh. Dozens of Music Institute faculty and alumni have recorded with Cedille Records in the the past 25 years, including Rachel Barton Pine, Matthew Hagle, Wendy Warner, Sang Mee Lee and Mischa Zupko.
