Six MIC Students to Participate in the Chicago Youth in Music Festival

The CHICAGO YOUTH IN MUSIC FESTIVAL is a celebration of young classical musicians from across Greater Chicago. It is presented by the Negaunee Music Institute at the CSO in partnership with the city’s leading community music schools and youth orchestras.  Participation in the Festival and all related events are offered free of charge and target diverse audiences.

 

Since its inception in 2011, the Chicago Youth in Music Festival creates numerous opportunities for young people from across the city to come together, celebrate and deepen their love for instrumental music, and connect to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The Music Institute of Chicago is please to have six students participating in master classes with musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Join Chicago Symphony Orchestra Zell Music Director Riccardo Muti and the Festival Orchestra—an advanced ensemble of outstanding young musicians in grades 7-12 from across the city and suburbs—for an open rehearsal in Orchestra Hall. This event is part of the 2017 Chicago Youth in Music Festival, a collaboration between the Negaunee Music Institute at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and greater Chicago’s leading community music schools and youth orchestras.

This event is free, but tickets are required.

Master Classes with Musicians of the CSO
The festival will present master classes to advanced students by members of the CSO, and the classes will focus on standard orchestral excerpts and advanced solo repertoire and features students from Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestras, Merit School of Music, Midwest Young Artists, and Music Institute of Chicago.
 
All master classes are free and open to the public. Tickets will be available for reservation beginning Monday, January 29.  For more information, click here >>
