Teaching philosophy and areas of expertise:
In addition to being a fine performer on one's primary instrument, students must seek a strong sense of musicianship grounded in analysis and informed by historical performance practices. This deeper engagement with the repertoire of all periods facilitates more intentionally expressive music-making. Both the beginner and the virtuoso are faced with the same challenge: performing in a way that speaks to the audience.
