Blue Violet Duo releases their second album, "Strike, Strum and Stride"

The Blue Violet Duo - Music Institute's Piano Faculty member, Louise Chan and violinist Kate Carter was formed in 2013. The Chicago based duo, born of a friendship and musical kinship, enjoyed immediate recognition by winning a competition. That competition performance led to their performance in Carnegie's Weill Hall in New York in February of 2014. Their 2018 debut album, American Souvenirs, received critical recognition and was selected as WFMT's "New Release of the Day" in October 2018. They have been invited for repeat performances at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, most recently in January 2022.
The Duo enjoys bringing light to lesser-known, engaging works to surprise and delight audiences everywhere. Their second album of all American works, "Strike, Strum, and Stride" was released on January 13, 2023 by Centaur Records. The Duo performed at the album release party at the Epiphany Center for the Arts on Sunday, January 22.
Recipients of a grant to help fund the project came from the Musicians Club of Women.
