Music Institute of Chicago Opens New Teaching Space in Lake Bluff

Lake Bluff MIC Campus
The Music Institute of Chicago, a leader in music education since 1931, opens a new teaching space at Grace United Methodist Church, 244 E. Center Avenue in Lake Bluff on November 1, 2023. The new location will offer private lessons for youth and adults in piano, strings, voice, guitar, and harp. The space will also feature Musikgarten early childhood music classes beginning in January.

The new teaching space is a seven-minute walk from the Lake Bluff Metra station and easily accessible from nearby communities including Lake Forest, Libertyville, Gurnee, and North Chicago.

To welcome the community, the Music Institute invites students and families to a series of informal open houses Wednesday–Friday, November 1–3 from 3 to 7 pm and Saturday, November 4 from 10 am to 2 pm. Music Institute instructors will be available to answer questions and demonstrate musical instruments.

Open house visitors will receive free tickets to the Music Institute’s annual holiday performance, Duke it Out! Nutcracker. This family-friendly, one-hour version of The Nutcracker alternates between Tchaikovsky's original score and the jazz version by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, featuring Ensemble-in-Residence Quintet Attacca, guest ensemble Braeburn Brass, and performers from Dance Chicago.

“The Music Institute of Chicago is dedicated to providing the highest quality music education available in a supportive and nurturing musical environment,” said President and CEO Mark George. “Our faculty are among the best prepared and most experienced in the country. We have long taken pride in our top-tier teaching, our brilliant professional performances, and our widespread community service activities.”
